EMMAUS, Penn., NEW YORK, NY – August 18, 2016 – Rodale Inc. has named Jessica Murphy Managing Director of Runner’s World, the world’s largest and most influential media brand in running.

In the newly created role designed to expand Runner’s World’s footprint, Murphy will develop, evaluate and execute new business opportunities for the brand, including strategic partnerships, content marketing and new products, and event and training offerings. She will report to Chairman and CEO Maria Rodale.

Murphy joins Rodale from Nike, where she most recently served as a North America Digital Brand Director. Previously, she was a Content and Partner Lead at LinkedIn, where she led a team of global content marketing consultants and launched their first content partner program. Prior to that, she was an Integrated Account Director at The Atlantic, leading all Midwest sales across the brand’s properties in print, online and events. She started her media career at Starcom Worldwide.

“With diverse accomplishments across digital and print media, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a knack for driving progressive business operations, Jessica possesses a unique blend of skill sets,” said Rodale. “As an ambitious, talented brand marketer who is also deeply involved in the running community, she will be an asset when it comes to anticipating partner needs and conceptualizing multiplatform brand offerings as we continue to expand Runner’s Worldproducts and experiences.”

Murphy – a 12x marathoner and 2x ultra-marathoner – is also the co-founder of BibRave.com, a consumer-facing race review site that delivers content to a large and influential online running community and provides marketing solutions for races and running brands.

Said Murphy, “I’m delighted to join the Runner’s World team at such an exciting time! The brand is stronger than ever, and as the running and media landscape evolve, there will be even more opportunity for Runner’s World to re-imagine how we serve runners.”

Murphy graduated from the University of Illinois with an M.S. and a B.S. in Advertising. She will split her time between Portland, OR, (where she currently lives) and Rodale’s Emmaus and New York offices.
