NEW YORK, NY—May 16, 2016—Rodale Inc., the world’s leading healthy, happy living company, announced today the appointment of Kathleen Schmidt as Associate Publisher, Rodale Books. Additional promotions include Jennifer Levesque to VP Editorial Director, Rodale Books and Yelena Gitlin Nesbit to Executive Director of Strategic Development & Communications, Rodale Books.

As Associate Publisher, Schmidt will work alongside VP Publisher Gail Gonzales and VP Editorial Director Jennifer Levesque to develop the Rodale Books publishing program, as well as new products and initiatives with current and prospective authors and brands, and will work closely with Macmillan, Rodale’s distributor. Reporting to Schmidt will be the Sales, Digital Product, Managing Editorial and Rodale Wellness digital content teams. Schmidt will report to Rodale Books VP/Publisher Gail Gonzales.
Most recently, Schmidt was VP of Marketing and Publicity at Running Press where she developed marketing, publicity and ad/promo programs for Running Press Adult, Kids and Miniature titles, as well as for licensed properties such as Harry Potter, Peanuts, Game of Thrones, among others. Simultaneously, she was VP, Director of Corporate Communications at Perseus Books Group during which time she oversaw and managed the communication around the sale of Perseus Books Group to Hachette and Ingram. An industry veteran with nearly 19 years experience, Schmidt has also led her own PR & Marketing firm, KMSPR ; served as the Marketing and Publicity Director of Weinstein Books; VP Director of Marketing and Publicity for Atria Books, and Publicity and Marketing Director of Dutton & Gotham Books.
Levesque, since joining Rodale in 2013, has overseen the acquisition of such New York Times bestselling titles as the Thug Kitchen cookbooks, The Bulletproof Diet by Dave Asprey, The School of Greatness by Lewis Howes, The Bone Broth Diet by Dr. Kellyann Petrucci, and Balancing in Heels by Kristin Cavallari, among others. As VP, Jennifer will work even more closely with Publisher Gail Gonzales to shape and expand the group’s innovative publishing program and drive the business forward.
Nesbit joined Rodale in 2008 and has played a key role in the success of such New York Times bestselling books as Alicia Silverstone’s The Kind Diet, Dr. David Kessler’s The End of Overeating; Dr. William Davis’s Wheat Belly; the Thug Kitchen cookbooks, Dave Asprey’s The Bulletproof Diet, among others. She will help shape the list/identify new business opportunities; create impactful media campaigns and collaborate on creative, results-driven marketing and social media initiatives.
