Rodale Inc., the world’s leading healthy, happy living company, today announced that Gail Gonzales has been appointed VP/Publisher, Rodale Books, effective immediately. She will report to Chairman and CEO Maria Rodale. Gonzales succeeds SVP/Publisher, Mary Ann Naples, who was recently named VP/Publisher of Disney Book Group.
Gonzales joined Rodale Inc. in May 2015 as VP/Associate Publisher, Trade Books. In her new role, she will oversee Rodale’s trade publishing book operations, including editorial, marketing, and distribution channels. She will also collaborate with the Rodale portfolio of award-winning brands to translate their message and vision into successful books.

As VP/Associate Publisher, Gonzales oversaw the Sales and Marketing departments and has been instrumental in further developing the Rodale publishing program, spearheading new products and initiatives with current and perspective authors and brands. She successfully cultivated synergy with the company’s portfolio of world-class lifestyle brands, integrated marketing team, and direct-to-consumer books groups while managing the company’s relationship with Macmillan, who distributes Rodale Books.

Prior to joining Rodale, Gonzales was Director of Integrated Marketing at Simon & Schuster, where she worked across the company on various experiential initiatives, including the creation and launch of SimonSays, S&S’s online learning courses and the production of on-air broadcast and streamed audio and video programming. She was also instrumental in driving contemporary book marketing concepts, such as launching of thematic large-scale non-bookstore author events and web-based live events; creating new opportunities for branding and alternative revenue streams; and cultivating outside partnerships with parent company CBS and other entities to create unique programs that amplified multimedia marketing. Gonzales worked with authors and titles such as: Cary Elwes’ As You Wish, Bethenny Frankel’s I Suck at Relationships So You Don’t Have To, David Agus, MD End of Illness and Short Guide To A Long Life, Eben Alexander’s Proof of Heaven, and Rachael Ray’s Week In A Day, among others.
Prior to S&S, Gonzales was Marketing and Publicity Director at Hay House, where she oversaw 15 web properties (ecommerce, content, author, blogger, and content verticals), email campaigns, and the programming of unique online assets—Hay House Radio, live online events, and live streaming of large-scale conferences. While at Hay House, Gonzales also launched the self-publishing division, Balboa Press, with Author Solutions; developed the Hay House Booknook blogger program; and launched social media platforms for author brands and publishing brands.
