Rodale Inc. Names Melanie Hansche Editor-in-Chief of Rodale’s Organic Life

Rodale Inc., the world’s leading healthy, happy living company, today announced that Melanie Hansche has been promoted to Editor-in-Chief of Rodale’s Organic Life. In her new role, she will oversee the editorial direction across all Organic Life brand platforms, including the magazine’s editorial, digital, and mobile presence.

Since joining Rodale in 2014 as Executive Director of Food Content & Strategy, Hansche has re-imagined several of the company’s key food platforms and initiatives, including the Rodale Recipe Finder, one of the most comprehensive sources of healthy recipe content online, and the Rodale Test Kitchen, where recipes and kitchen products are tested and reviewed for the company’s portfolio of magazines and books. She was most recently serving as the interim Editor-in-Chief of Rodale’s Organic Life.

Prior to joining Rodale, Hansche was the managing editor of donna hay magazine, one of Australia's most successful and recognized multi-platform food brands. During her time there, she played a key role in developing and executing the editorial direction and day-to-day operations of the multi-platform brand, leading to year-over-year print circulation growth and numerous industry accolades, including Food Magazine of the Year at the Australian Magazine Awards in 2012. During her tenure, Hansche also served as the editor of several of bestselling author Donna Hay’s cookbooks, including The New Classics, Fresh and Light, Simple Dinners, Fast, Fresh, Simple and Seasons. Prior to joining donna hay magazine, she covered food in various capacities: as a restaurant critic, radio presenter, editor and food writer for a range of publications, including Australia's oldest and most established restaurant guide, Cheap Eats, to its most premium food magazine, Australian Gourmet Traveller.

Hansche’s appointment is effective immediately; she will split her time between the New York and Emmaus, PA, offices.
